He sent me a recording that the noise had gone from around 35dB to 43dB.Which is much\u00a0worse\u00a0that two motors seized up within a week and they got hot but did\u00a0not rotate.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAfter that, I set a rule for mysel tha when my customer takes samples,and I will record all key parameters and batch numbers signed by both parties. Before shipping a bulk order, the customer can hire a third party to randomly test the batch. If the results exceed the agreed tolerance, I take full responsibility. I now put this in every contract, and it has actually become a reason customers trust me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. A CE certificate nearly put my customer on a customs blacklist<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A German customer was making a smart lock with Bluetooth. He bought the motor and control board from me. The motor had a CE certificate, but I did not be careful of something that the CE covered only the LVD (Low Voltage Directive), not EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) or RED (Radio Equipment Directive). The motor itself doesn\u2019t have wireless, but the complete lock does. When the whole lock goes through CE, the motor must be considered as a component. At a minimum, the motor needs both LVD and EMC reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, whenever a customer asks about certifications, I proactively ask that which country are you selling to? Does your lock have wireless? What certifications do you plan for the whole product? Then I provide the corresponding motor level test reports of LVD, EMC, or RED data if needed. I work with internationally accredited labs to ensure every report is genuine, complete, and relevant to the actual use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Tariffs are eating into profits<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tariffs have changed so fast lately. I am not a logistics expert, but I do help my customers find solutions. Here are a few things that have actually worked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, it is advised to optimize the HS code classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same micro gear motor can fall under different HS codes, and the tariff difference can be ten percentage points or more. I work with the customer\u2019s customs broker to find the most accurate, lowest-rate code without breaking any rules. This work sometime need too much time but i frequently contact on customs requirements in different countries and can often help customers save l money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second, it is better to make long-term pricing agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If a customer has a good forecast for the next six months, I negotiate a long-term agreement with the motor factory fixing both the motor price and the main logistics costs. This avoids tariff swings. To the factory, predictable costs are often more valuable than a slightly lower price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Small orders is same to be paid more attention<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know small customers and their pain. My principle is simple that whether you need 3,000 units or 500 units, you get the same serious attention. A small order today could be a big order three years later. Of course, small orders do have higher unit costs. I am honest that the price may be a few points higher, but the lead time, quality, and after-sales service are exactly the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Missing one piece of paper can strand your container at the port<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here is something you might not believe: Your goods arrive at the port, but one missing document gets the whole container detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After that, I created a customs documentation checklist that I go through before every shipment and I will also send an electronic copy of the checklist to the customer with the shipment, and also put a paper copy inside the carton. Since then, none of my customers have had a shipment detained for missing documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After these years selling experience, my biggest honest word is: customers are not just buying a motor and they are buying peace of mind. You don\u2019t need to know every technical detail about motor,.but you do need to find a supplier who tells you the truth and helps you avoid the traps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
